Looking for an ID please

Hi, looking for an ID on this. From research it looks like snake vertebrae? But seems too large. Big snake? Found in Alberta. About 8 inches across, 3 inches deep.

Thank you for any ideas.

If it is a fossil that you found, you didn’t take it out of Alberta, did you?

It looks modern, rather than fossilized. There is a burn test you can perform that might determine if it is or not.

Thanks for the reply. I’m in Alberta, just noticed it has my location as Denver?

It doesn’t seem to have a fossilized feel on the bottom half.

Looks like bison.

There was a post just the other day here on TFF: http://www.thefossilforum.com/index.php?/topic/95871-vertebrae-found-in-uk-id-required-please/

Thanks for that link. That looks very much like what I have. Thinking maybe Bison but there’s not been Bison there for maybe 100 years. Will do some more research. I don’t think it would be Rhino in Alberta?
