I'm hoping to make it back out to Montana next year to look for dino material. We had a lot of fun doing it 2 years ago, but didnt use much for tools except a screwdriver and brush. We didn't really excavate any major areas though, just looked for things sticking out. Its fun if you can do it but try it with something other than a screwdriver On 6/22/2019 at 10:44 AM, ober said: this looks to have been a very neat experience, thanks for sharing. Troodon
Here are a few more of my finds and include items from Montana Quick pictures not the best.. Dentary T rex Tooth - 1 1 1/2" South Dakota Nanotyrannus tooth - 1 1/2" Montana Nanotyrannus Teeth largest 1 1/2" Mix in locations Mammal Molar most likely Didelphodon vorax - Montana Maxillary Edmontosaurus tooth - South Dakota I find lots of hadro teeth but my most interesting find of the trip is this tooth found in an Edmontosaurus bonebed. The center ridge is S shaped and it has denticles around the perimeter of the crown. This is not typical for Edmontosaur. Pathologic, positional or different species? Bird bones - one on the right looks like a femur with the curvature not visible in this view. help on the other humerus? Small non dinosaurian claw 3/8"

Troodon
What I enjoy best about collecting is you never know what you find. Here is a very distal juvie caudal Edmontosaurus vertebra with a very unusual pathology. Its missing the process and the nubs that remain are natural not broken, there is also a hole in the center that is about +3 mm deep. So are we looking at a bite that destroyed the processes and created the hole? Good to speculate....and very cool Width is 1/2"
