diginupbones
Hoping to get some good input on these. I found several of these rib bones together in densely packed sand/Ash material. I’ve never seen this type of consistency in any other type of fossil. It’s almost like they turned into Sandstone material. Any idea what causes this or what type of animal they are from? ynot
Sorry, should have said that it is unlikely You can id these as they are missing both ends. About all that can be said is they came from a mammal of a certain size. Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough." diginupbones
Any idea of why they fossilized into the material that they are? Is that determined by the type of material that they were covered in?
ynot
The type of preservation of a fossil is dependent on the minerals that are available in the surrounding rock. Without holding the piece in My hand (HA HA @caldigger) I can not make a comment on what is going on with this piece. Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys."
