Hi. I know nothing about fossils. Wondering if I found one!

Welcome to the forum!  I’m not seeing anything that looks like a fossil on this rock. What about it said “fossil” to you, maybe we can look closer at that?

I agree, rock, and not a fossil.

 It looked like a four towed footprint and it appears to be two separate rock types.

OK, I see what you were looking at.  But I am pretty certain this is just a suggestively shaped rock, that happens a lot.  Footprints can be found in some other types of rocks but are usually found in muds that have turned to shale and this is not that type of rock.  I think the two colors that you see are from weathering, one part of the rock was exposed to the elements for a while and has taken on a different color while the other was still buried.  It's good that you are keeping a sharp eye out, keep looking and you'll find a real fossil before long.  Feel free to browse some of the pictures on the forum here to see what others have found as fossils.  Good luck!
