Magalosaurus vertebrae

Pterygotus

Recommended Posts

This is being sold as a megalosaurus vertebrae from France. How does it look and I’m pretty sure megalosaurus isn’t from France so is there a chance that this is poekilopleuron? It is Jurassic late tithonian and is from Re, Charente - Maritime, Dept 17, France.

The thing is, there aren't records of Poekilopleuron from Charente-Maritime... Poekilopleuron remains are more known from Normandy :)

Opalised fossils are the best: a wonderful mix between paleontology and mineralogy!

Q. Where do dinosaurs study?

A. At Khaan Academy!...

Like  The Amature Paleontologist indicated Poekilopleuron is from the middle jurassic of Normandy.  Not very familar with late Jurassic dinosaurs of Charente-Maritime other than some theropod teeth being have been found with the possibly of having resemblance to Megalosauridae. You may want to ask the seller how he arrived at that ID.  I get the sense that little is described from that region, hopfully someone who knows the area will respond
