Please help identify the fossil below. It was found in glacial till/drift in South Bend, Indiana. Approximately 8cm across and 4cm wide. Please note the hangnails in the third picture. I've never had a manicure but I am now debating. Thank you for your help and understanding.

A bit of lotion rubbed into the affected areas aught to get those bad boys fixed up right nicely.

Cant be sure ( and I could be way off ), but I'm seeing an odd preservation of ammonite living chambers for that piece.

My vote goes to oddly eroded coral of some sort.

I agree, or possibly bryozoan . Could do with some crisper closeups.

I sharpened this up a bit:

Thank you - I'm not at all sure now! We might need someone who knows the local fossils...

Beekite on syringopora ?

That might be a good idea, at least the beekite which tried to form rings. I suppose the macaroni like features may be corals, but there are not enough details to make a more precise ID. I can't conclude properly according to the pictures posted. :headscratch:

That's a good suggestion - silicified anyway, without the ring structure.

Here's a Syringopora of mine that does that (old photos so not the best...).

Tubes about 2mm diameter
