Snaggle_tooth
Hello everyone, My girlfriend and I ventured over to Big Brook in New Jersey again this morning. After hours of digging I came up with this odd piece. I am under the belief that it may be a piece of an ammonite, but I am not 100 percent sure, as I know they are kind of hard to come by at Big Brook. If anyone could identify it, or just tell me its a weird rock it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! -Snag

The Jersey Devil
Either Placenticeras minor or a concretion. Need better pics. Very hopeful for a Placenticeras haha! What pics/angles would need to be taken for identification? Edited July 5, 2019 by Snaggle_tooth

Here are some better pics with some brighter light. I attempted to get some closer shots, and in better focus. Hope this helps for identification! erose
Certainly a piece of ammonite. But any identification of a scrap that small would be tentative. With some research and knowledge of the handful of possibilities pulled from faunal lists maybe a SWAG to genus at best.
