FossilsandScience
I am trying to prepare this nice plant fossil I found in Wyoming, but can’t figure out how to remove the glue marks left over from stabilizing the fossilized piece of branch in the center. The glue marks are the dark area near the fossilized branch. Anyone have any advice?

Sagebrush Steve
What kind of glue did you use?
FossilsandScience
Either Starbond or PaleoBond Penetrant Stabilizer.
Gizmo
A solvent for super glue is acetone though I have no idea if its use is appropriate in this case.
Troodon
Agree acetone is solvent for those glues
Ptychodus04
+1 for acetone. Dunk a toothbrush into the acetone and scrub away with medium pressure at the area you want to remove glue from. Mark Kmiecik
Wear a respirator when working with acetone. The paper mask won't help. Acetone will cause lung damage that will show up with a vengeance when you get older (60-ish). Trust me, I know firsthand. Mark. Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!
