Fossildude19 Posted July 11, 2019 Share Posted July 11, 2019 Welcome to the Forum. According to this geologic map of West Virgina, Boone county has Pennsylvanian bedrock. That would indicate plant matter to me. Not sure you could go much further than that, as I am not seeing much in the way of diagnostic details. Regards, 1 Link to post Share on other sites
