Megalodon tooth

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. This recently came in the mail. I’m almost positive that it’s real as I bought it from a reputable dealer, but just wanted to make sure. What does everyone think?

Indeed, your tooth once populated the gaping maw of an enormous shark.

Can we see some better pictures of the edge please?

This looks like a parting line from a mold.

Better pictures might change my mind.

Your seller didn't mention "Replica" in the description did he?

It’s hard to tell. It’s the same texture as the center. Wondering if it looks like a cut off because the angle changes.

That might be what it is. Makes a good optical illusion like it is flat on the edge.

I saw that too cal digger but there’s no sign of it in the other views so I think it’s a light trick

Where did the seller say it was from?

It looks like a reworked lag tooth we find occassionally here in NC

The seller did not say the location. Did say it was not restored in any way and is 3 1/16”.

So that’s where my meg went! :P

Just kidding! I have one that was ordered over a month ago that’s lost in the mail. :(Supplier has sent a replacement, supposed to be here on Monday.

Nice tooth! I too thought I saw a mold line until the second batch of pictures. Light playing tricks again. How big is it?

The tooth is 3.06 inches

I assume that is length. So it’s probably 2.5 inches wide or so? Not a bad size! Congrats!
