Real reminiscent of siphuncle?

Hy guys,
So I got this nautiloid in a wholesale and when I got home I realized this kind of small "hole" in the inner part of the shell.

My doubt is if this is reminiscent of the siphuncle or it was made by someone.
What do you think?

When you blow up the picture it does not appear drilled. It appears to me to be organic in origin. Cracks shapes etc all flow smoothly into it.

So would it be the siphuncle?

I’m not an expert mind you but it’s in the right place, looks like one, appears organic... if it was mine I’d be labeling it as one.....

Definitely a siphuncle. What Randy said plus it would be unworthy of the effort to reproduce artificially. I like specimens like this showing sutures, a chamber wall and the siphuncle. They are good for explaining how they achieve buoyancy to people who don't know. You would just need to add that the body chamber is missing and show where it would have been.

Yes.

Probably. Looks similar to those heavy polished Cenoceras coming from Madagaskar, see here for example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cenoceras
