possible very large tooth in bone?

Found this in 2012 somewhere in northwest Alabama, while tromping around. I've no idea what it is, but it looked like some kind of tooth in bone. The big protrusion looks rough and kind of like cement, but looking closer it appears to go into the "bone" area, like a regular tooth. I'm more of a rockhound, but this was too unusual to not pick up. Any help with identifying it would be greatly appreciated.1.thumb.jpg.9763ad8bceec3a9a0deab2230e344f85.jpg3.thumb.jpg.4dfd4a767074bfdb7d189a41f81236c9.jpg2.thumb.jpg.144d02de3ebe6ab96d604abd17c9fe6a.jpg5.thumb.jpg.64e58aed256c80200f5839e973a297d0.jpg

Welcome to TFF from Austria!

Thanks for the many pics in different angles!

The grey thing is a piece of oddly weathered limestone, definitely not a tooth. It seems, that it has some wavy lines in it, this could be stylolites.

I am unsure about the brown thing. It could be dolomite, a rather fresh siderite concretion or even chert. I am wondering, if there could be some organism involved forming its shape, because it seems that there is some spiraling pattern in some of the pics. But I really don´t know :).

I agree with Franz. There is neither bone nor tooth there, but the spiral pattern makes it interesting. I'd say we need a trained geologist to help us here.

Welcome from France.

I agree the concretion might be a sponge.
