Digi
I'm running out of room on my little shelf, so I was curious how you guys display YOUR fossils! I could use some ideas, as well as an excuse to see your guys's awesome collections!
snolly50
Here is an old post series that you may enjoy. Fossildude19
It depends on the types of fossils. Shelving, plastic boxes, cabinets, riker mounts, jewelry boxes, tackle boxes. All of these plus a few more I've probably forgotten, are all good ways to display fossils, depending on size. I_gotta_rock
I got a bunch of plate hangers and used them to hang my larger scallops on the wall. Also good for flatter pieces in shale. 1 I refuse to give up my childish wonder at the world.

Masp
We all feel your pain lol. Much of my collection is displayed in a Ikea Detolf display cabinet like the one shown here. Many collectors in the forum do the same. If you have the room for one, totally worth it. Youtube this so you can get a better idea of how it would look in your home. Hope this helps. ziggycardon
I use different things for displaying fossils. My favorite displays by far are Riker boxes which are a safe storage for fossils, easy in use & look very professional. I currently am using around 10 rikers in various sizes to display stuff. Something you can also do when you are short on space is to stack rikers on eachother, I even think I once saw someone here on the forum that made a drawer with them to display his fossils. Another thing I use are floating display, which are a nice way to display some thin fossils like amber or ammonites. I use it for my cenozoïc amber & copal and for my Cave bear fossils as shown here Something I used when I was very short on space and before I had rikers were these kind boxes, which are very cheap to get and easy to store some smaller fossils. I only use it now for sea urchins but before I used it also for shark teeth, amber, marine invertebrates, etc. Another thing I mainly used when I was short on space were these mineral boxes. I found them a great way to display fossils when I was short on shelf space, but I must say that now I have the fossil room I barely use them anymore for anything other than minerals and very small fossils & microfossils. Another thing I use are these folding boxes which I have stored in an IKEA archive cabinet. The cabinet is very space effecient and the folding boxes keep everything in place & seperated. ziggycardon
As for the cabinets where I display fossils I use 3 things. The Archive cabinet I just mentioned. These low IKEA bookshelf boxes, which are just my favorite thing to display. They are really everywhere in my house. And like @Masp just mentioned the Ikea Detolf display cabinet are great for displaying fossils and other thing. I currenly have 5 at home: 2 for fossils, 1 for rocks, meteorites & minerals, 1 for historical artefacts & travel souvenirs and 1 for my movie prop collection. For the rest I also like to use lots of stands so I can put fossils in a more erect position to save space. 2 1 Interested in all things paleontology, geology, zoology, evolution, natural history and science! May I ask where I can buy these? Are they form one specific company? E bay is your best bet. That’s where I got mine from. My ones are 2 inches high so they are perfect for being able to hold thick specimens like a T. rex or iguanodon as two examples. They’re not that expensive and quality is good
FossilNerd
I have a lot of plastic storage bins and drawers to store fossils, but to show off my better specimens, I use a couple of glass retail display cabinets that I got used from a local store that had bought new ones. My display has changed a lot, but here are some older pictures from when I first started setting them up so you know what I’m talking about. Maybe later I can get a few updated photos and share them. 3 1 The good thing about science is that it's true whether or not you believe in it. -Neil deGrasse Tyson Everyone you will ever meet knows something you don't. -Bill Nye (The Science Guy)

Digi
Man, I completely forgot about this thread but oh what a welcoming party I came back to! You all have some extremely impressive collections, really puts my humble gathering to shame. I just cleared off a shelf from my book shelf and made some wire stands. Many of other finds are definitely holed away till I can stick them into a shadow box
Abyss
Great collections & displays. Though I was hoping there would of been more display methods shown that didn't consist of glass shelving, I'm finding a lot of these cabinets with glass shelves are only good for 40 pounds per shelf. This 40 pound limit I'd have a problem with, it might work or not ? I'd hate to come home one day to see 1 shelf breaks & takes out more shelves & break my specimens. Plus those Ikea cabinets are small, wouldn't hold much per shelf for bigger items. Everywhere I look display cabinets are not cheap ! I want something that can be dismantled, steel or ? not glass, with glass front doors/ shatter proof, led lighting, shelves can hold 50 lbs + each. If anyone knows where to find something like this at fare price let me know. Otherwise I'll have to build it myself, found a bookcase/ workshop shelving unit that should work. RJB
Those standing glass display cases are really nice! Here is one of my display cases. It is all stainless steel and glass. I glued on the black felt on the back to make my fossils stand out more. RB 2
