Mahantango formation at Seven Stars

Recommended Posts

Sean976

Spent some time earlier poking around at the Devonian aged Mahantango formation at Seven stars and came across some items, the first three pics are the same rock, the tube formation of the first three pics were about twice the size but crumbled away but was able to preserve this much, any help at ids would be great

Looks like you've found an impression from a crinoid stem.

the first & second photos are of a gastropod— i’m thinking genus Worthenia. the last photo is of a crinoid stem crosssection(right) and i believe the imprint of the left is of a frond from a fenestrate bryozoan. you’ve found yourself a good place to find devonian fossils!

Thanks for the quick reply! It is a nice spot though it was a bit hot today and there’s no shade there, been there twice before but was distracted by all the Brachiopods, Pelecypods, and Trilobite pieces previously. Do you had any idea what this might be? I am not sure if it uploaded with the previous post. Thanks again this is a great forum! 8CDA7DFF-70D1-4A55-B164-E02F6EA8BC93.thumb.jpeg.95d1ae6cf4ba7de9b243d280f17de9df.jpeg

Thanks I was happy with both of them, the first one has some nice detail, and the second was a bit larger, not a bad day
