Possible wood fossil

Hello, I just want to say, know it isn't allowed to pick up fossils here in South Africa since it belongs to the state, but the state does not care nor want these fossils, so I have decided to help conserve the fossils by donating them to a local soon-to-be-built museum in our town. So anyways here is the fossil. It was picked up on the main beach of Yzerfontein. So.e of you might be familiar with the West Coast Fossil Park located a few miled away from the town. The fossil looks like a piece of wood. And I managed to break of what seems to be a thorn.20190807_161730.thumb.jpg.78d572ca54d2157bbd0a7c864c6f069f.jpg20190807_161747.thumb.jpg.0827033c254daf818ada84c43a3e97a3.jpg20190807_161817.thumb.jpg.b64063b22c5a65357d070e3a4c6b7488.jpg

It kind of looks like it, but on closer inspection you can see it consists of "strands"

That is consistent with some types of fish bones. ;)
