Vernalequinox
At the risk of sounding silly, I can't figure out if this is a fossil or seed. I found it on the bottom of a stream in Monmouth County, NJ, along with some other things that I need to photograph in daylight before asking for opinions. It doesn't float, if that helps. Thank you for your help!

FossilizedJello
Yes it is a seed, hard to tell if its a fossil though. Chances are, it would be rare for a seed to fossilize. However, if it is really hard and heavy for its size, it very well could be.
Darktooth
It is a modern seed, I have found the same type in my sifter many times. Though they are usually darker. 2 I like Trilo-butts and I cannot lie.
The Jersey Devil
Yep, modern seed. “You must take your opponent into a deep dark forest where 2+2=5, and the path leading out is only wide enough for one.” ― Mikhail Tal
