Rosey
We found this in the creek in Southern Ohio, trying to identify it.
Fossildude19
Looks like a bryozoan or sponge. I see lots of shells, brachiopods, crinoids and bryozoans. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Auspex
The jumbled assemblage seems to be the product of a high energy rip-up event. Pretty cool! Rosey
Thanks everyone, not sure why the photo is showing blue marks, there are none on the artifact. Does anyone think there is a fossilized gator in the mass. I am a novice at fossils in case you can’t tell!

No. I don't think you will find much in the way of vertebrates during the geologic time the rest of the items on this plate were laid down. Maybe you have some small lint threads on the camera lens from cleaning it. Otherwise I will have to concoct a conspiracy theory of space aliens attacking or such. There is a lot of aquatic life there, but no alligator. Most likely from an ancient sea floor (think coral reef!). So still pretty cool! Fossildude19
Sorry there were no gators around at the time this was fossilized. abyssunder
Maybe the blue traces are Vivianite crystals. Given your location, this is very likely from one of the many Upper Ordovician (Cincinnatian) exposures near you.
