Jurassic sturgeon fin cut and polished

Ever wondered what a sturgeon fin looks like cut down the middle and polished?

 

This is from a large fish called Gyrosteus mirabilis that swam in the seas near whitby all them years ago.

 

i think it’s the cartilage.

Cut straight down the middle, showing the pyrite too.
