caldigger
Just recieved this from a Chinese seller ( might not be originally from there though!) Stated as Pleistocene. Not sure what I am looking at. I have tried comparing with many photos online and can't seem to come up with a good match. Might this be from an "off the normal grid" bovine such as Water Buffalo or oxen or just a very senile animal like bison? Heck, it may not even be bovid at all. There doesn't seem to be a pronounced stylid on the side. Any and all opinions are welcomed.

Harry Pristis
Yes, I think it is bovid -- that loop of enamel is the remnant of an isolated stylid in a worn tooth. Maybe a Bubalus sp. jaw, maybe some other Chinese bovid. 1 http://pristis.wix.com/the-demijohn-page What seest thou else In the dark backward and abysm of time? ---Shakespeare, The Tempest
