julie44298
We found this fossil today in a creek bed in Ballwin, MO (west of St. Louis) and tried to figure out what it was. Thinking that it's the belly of a trilobite, but we're having a hard time verifying anything! Would love to show our daughter the whole thing! grandpa
Welcome to the Forum from Austin, Tx. I believe you have a good example of a cross-section of a rugose coral.
FossilNerd
Looks like the deformed cross section of a rugose (horn) coral to me. @grandpa types faster than me. 1 The good thing about science is that it's true whether or not you believe in it. -Neil deGrasse Tyson Everyone you will ever meet knows something you don't. -Bill Nye (The Science Guy)
FossilDAWG
Welcome to the Forum! I concur with the others, it is definitely a solitary rugose ("horn") coral in cross section. Don
