Nanog
Hello! Today during a bath I found this bone: it was in the sea water near Gela, a city in the southern coast of Sicily. Near the place where I found it there are some little rivers, so, maybe it was a land animal’s bone. Can you help me with the identification? ynot
Welcome to TFF! This looks like a modern cow leg bone. Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough." My Fossil collection - My Mineral collection My favorite thread on TFF.
Nanog
Thank you! Do you think that this is the proximal part of a femur? This was my first idea so I searched on internet and I found some photos, but the trochanter seems to little, especially in the upper part. The head of the femur instead seems very very big, so the doubt remained.
Harry Pristis
It doesn't appear to be bovid. http://pristis.wix.com/the-demijohn-page What seest thou else In the dark backward and abysm of time? ---Shakespeare, The Tempest
