To nudge someone is an idiomatic expression meaning to persuade gently.  

 

It is similar to the French form. For example: Mon ami m'a poussé dans la bonne direction.

Great finds, Mason!  I especially like the gastropod and the pareidolia - I have a soft spot for molluscs, and that fossil artwork is amazing - perhaps a good avatar pic?
