No Idea What This is!

Hi there!

My partner took a trip to San Francisco and I asked him to bring me back a shell(I collect shells) and he comes home with this!

I'm absolutely stumped! No idea what this could be.

Input?

Welcome to the forum.

Hi there .. it is an operculum, a trap-door of sorts that can close the opening of a snail shell. It is fairly common on some sea snails. This is modern.

Cheers,

Brett

More Snail operculum images.

This is most likely modern, by the way. ;)
