This looks like a fossilized honey comb?

Agreed. BTW: Using the description "looks like fossilized honey comb" is a perfect description of these corals. ;) I think we could have made a proper diagnosis from this description even without the image. It's a very nice looking specimen. Did you find any other fossils in the same area?

I’d agree with Favosites. They are frequently found in the Michigan area. Commonly called “honeycomb coral”, so your description was spot on as digit mentioned. I’ve also heard these (and similar coral) called “wasp nest coral” because of their similarities to modern paper wasps nest.
