Hello, TennCowGirl and welcome to TFF from Austin, Tx.  You've found a great site to find answers to such questions.  You will find a group of knowledgeable and helpful folk here, along with a lot of folks here to learn more, such as myself.  I do not think what you have is a fossil, rather it is geologic.  It looks to me like a seam of softer material (perhaps calcite) sandwiched  in between what appears to me to be igneous rock.  An interesting and attractive rock, but not a fossil.

Again, welcome and keep bringing your questions.

Welcome to the Forum. :)

Could we get photos of the opposite side, and the two ends, looking straight at them?

Also, please provide county found and something in the pictures for scale.  :)
