BobWill
I found this Cryptolithus in the Late Ordovician, Viola Springs Formation of Carter County Oklahoma. Can someone tell me if it is C.fittsi which I see on a fauna list for the site or another species? I'm also wondering if the segmented strand below it is part of the tail or something else? piranha
We would need to see a clear image of the pits to ID the species with any confidence. Besides Cryptolithus convexus, most of these are now classified as Cryptolithoides. Three species are listed: C. carinatus, C. fittsi, and C. ulrichi, with the latter most commonly found.
