Hankdalek
Hi! I was walking along the beach on Topsail Island in North Carolina searching for sharks teeth after a storm when I found what appears to be a tooth. The strange part is that it closely resembles human teeth. I can’t seem to find anything like it in my books or online and I am trying to figure out what species it could possibly be. It’s about 1 millimeter long, if the ruler isn’t very clear in the photo. Edited September 11, 2019 by Hankdalek Spelling error
Reese the Rockhound
I just got a Meg tooth from topsail beach last week. Regarding this one, it could be a fragment of a larger tooth, possibly some sort of mammal.
Fossildude19
Fish tooth. Hankdalek
Thanks! I was thinking it would be a mammal or something, but then I started checking around for fish with human-like teeth and it seems like it’s probably a sheepshead. MarcoSr
Looks like a Sparidae (porgies) anterior incisor tooth i.e. Lagodon (pinfish), Archosargus (sheepshead) or Diplodus (porgy).
