Darko
Hi! Can anyone help me out to identify this partial tooth? I was told that it belongs to a white-tailed deer but i don't see any similarities with it, cause i do have also partial tooth from that type of deer? The chewing zone on tooth although partial doesn't look to me as a deer tooth. So what it could be then? I know that is found somewhere in Florida and that belongs to Pleistocene period. It's pretty strange though. Darko

fossilus
Kind of looks to me like maybe a partial premolar, p2 or p3? You might check out some more or less complete tapir jaws on the forum. I know Garyc has posted at least one.

Harry Pristis
It might be a Tapirus sp. tooth -- the anterior cusp of a p2. If it's Florida Pleistocene, it is T. veroensis. 3 http://pristis.wix.com/the-demijohn-page What seest thou else In the dark backward and abysm of time? ---Shakespeare, The Tempest

Harry Pristis
Looks right for a Florida lamine camel, Paleolama or Hemiauchenia, probably the latter. 2 http://pristis.wix.com/the-demijohn-page What seest thou else In the dark backward and abysm of time? ---Shakespeare, The Tempest
