Megalodon1
I thought that we need to start a 3+ inch Mako Club. You too can join this elite club by posting your 3+ inch Mako/s.
barefootgirl
Question, to be a member of this club does it have to be a Mako that I found or can it be one given to me or purchased? 1 In formal logic, a contradiction is the signal of defeat: but in the evolution of real knowledge, it marks the first step in progress toward victory. THobern
I'm all for Elitism, but they're not that uncommon. 3" False Mako, however... 3 3/8" Lower from S.C., 3 1/4" Upper from St. Mary's River, GA, 3 1/16" P. benidini from N.C. THobern
Interestingly, that benidini tooth is incredibly symmetrical, but just down a different plane that usual. 58mm by 54mm.
Bill
???? 58mm is approx 2.3" KOF, Bill. Welcome to the forum, all new members www.ukfossils check it out.
THobern
???? 58mm is approx 2.3" It's obviously not 54mm and 58mm from tip to root lobes; by a different plane of symmetry, I meant like this.

PaleoRon
I like it, I like it a lot! Congrats Is it your first 3+ inch Mako? No. I have two more over 3" (S.C. and N.C.) and a 2.97 from Bakersfield that I bought or traded for. I have five over 2.9" that I found, and ten over 3" that I have personally found. A couple of years ago I traded away two 3" mako teeth that I found.

megateeth
These are some of my favorites. The upper measures 3.34" and the lower is 3.2" I found these two 3.1" Makos on the same dive like 5 minutes apart. I can't match Thobern's killer 3" beni. My largest on the left is 2.97" Megateeth Fossils - Megalodon Teeth, Other Shark Teeth and Info about Megalodon shark tooth collecting.
PaleoRon
Very nice finds. Ya gotta love the Paratodus. Here are my jumbo mako teeth. All personal finds except the bottom tooth. The top row runs from 2.9" to 2.99" and all the rest are 3" to 3.28". Same pic with different lighting. Largest tooth. What they typically look like when I find them. It has a bit of cleaning to show the hidden color beneath the mineral coating. If I ever get my boat back out of the shop I hope to find another monster mako this year.
