Egg fossil ID?

It is very egg like. I have to agree that it is almost certainly a geologic coincidence though.

Details of the surface texture along with the place it was found are what I base the opinion on. In the White River badlands it would be a different story.

Most folks, (about 99.9%), who have found a fossil egg turns out to be a rock of some kind.   Your item certainly has the shape of an egg but it looks like some kind of man make material?

Here is a bird egg from the Oligocene Brule Formation from my sons' M&M Ranch in Nebraska for comparison.  The egg is 2.25 inches long.  You can see the thin outer white eggshell in the picture.
