matt2946
Just found my first fossil this past weekend in Grand Isle, Vermont. I think it is a trilobite but I am not sure. I was hoping someone can comment on what they think it is and maybe a few tips for cleaning it would be much appreciated! The fossil is about 1.5" long and was sun baking for who knows how long. Any idea how old these things are? Thanks for the feedback!

Fossildude19
Congratulations. Looks like the thorax and pygidium of a Triarthrus sp trilobite. Wash it with water and an old toothbrush first. Then you can carefully remove excess matrix with a dental pick or pin vise. These date back to the Ordovician. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." MeargleSchmeargl
A month before halloween, you find a headless trilobite. How fitting. Nice first find, by the way! Every single fossil you see is a miracle set in stone, and should be treated as such.
