Petrified
I have a question on laws and rules on road cuts with nice shale beds. Am I aloud to dig there? What permission is needed? Definition of a fossil= Love at first site.
jpc
laws vary state to state. It s illegal in Colorado to collect in roadcuts. And of course it is illegal to stop on all interstate highways except for emergencies. I stopped once here on I-80 to look at a hawk nest. I tried to convince a state cop who happened by that I had stopped for a birdwatching emergency. He did not buy it and basically told me to move on, buddy.
Fossildude19
You might consider contacting the Pennsylvania D.O.T. You can ask them what the laws are. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Mark Kmiecik
Each state, county, township, and/or municipality will have its own rules. You need to check on the local level. If you join a fossil or rock club in your area you will have the scoop on local law. Mark. Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!
