Fossil-Collecter
I got a few fossils that I needed help identifying. One is a strange heart shape and appears to be bone. There's also a vertebrae and didn't know if it was a fish or shark vertebrae. I'm assuming shark due to its size. Finally, there is a bone that looks like a spur or piece of armor plating that I was trying to ID. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
facehugger
Looks more like a fish vert to me... Any info you can provide on the location found, or the origin rock formation will help others give you identity...
Fossil-Collecter
They were near the Peace River in Florida along a creek.
digit
I was expecting to see an irregular urchin (aka heart urchin) test when I saw the title of the topic but that assumption didn't pan out. If I only saw the side profile image I might be lead to thinking it was a claw core of some sort but looking at the inflated and somewhat irregular texture on this object, I'm leaning toward some sort of hyperostotic (Tilly) bone. Cheers. -Ken
