Found in Dominican Republic

Hello,

My brothers friend recently found this beauty by a crop field in Bayaguana Dominican Republic (first and second picture). I believe it was found near water, a river of some sort.  We can not figure out what it is, but while hunting the internet I came across the third picture which was posted on a tourist site and claimed to be found in Sosua Dominican Republic which is in the northern part of the island and by the ocean. Can anyone tell me what this could be, what could have made that shape?

Welcome to TFF from Austin, Tx.

Your brothers' friend has found a beautiful Clypeaster echinoid [c.f. Clypeaster rosaceus (Linnaeus, 1758)].  This is quite a nice prize and should be kept, displayed with pride, and treasured.

Again, welcome to TFF
