What is this tooth from?

I work for an ecological restoration company and I work in rivers all the time. I find weird things from time to time, but I am stumped. Please help I know it’s a “petrified tooth” but I don’t know what it is from. Any ideas?

Please show a picture looking straight on to the chewing surface.  Lots of teeth look similar from the side.

Welcome to the Forum,

Where was this found?  State, County, town

What are it's measurements?

As Doren already mentioned, pictures of the chewing surface from directly above would be helpful. :)

I took the liberty of cropping, brightening and enlarging your photos.

Thank you! It was found 3 miles east of Granite Falls MN, in Renville County. The chewing surface measures 1”X1.25”. And it measures 2” tall. Thanks for all the help.

I think it maybe from a cow but thought it was a little big. Does anyone have an idea of how long it would have to be I water for it to be petrified like that? A year or 50 years?  That is what I found so interesting.

Have you tried to hold a flame to the root?

Does it smell, or burn?
