joshuajbelanger
Hey everyone, My wife is heading to Seattle for a week, so I’m planning a little fossil hunting in her absence. I plan on hitting up Florissant for some insects, then maybe a little Wyoming BLM hunting. If anyone is around the Ft. Collins area and wants to join, send me a pm. I have a brand spanking new Tacoma off-road, and I don’t mind driving. -J

joshuajbelanger
I already broke it in in Wyoming! I have some massive ammos that I’m prepping. They are gonna take me ages. I tore my calf getting one out of the ravine, so that is my swan song! I am a little disappointed with Colorado, though...I’m finding it hard to make fossil friends, and find locations. You were right, I miss the peace and @Bone Daddy.

We’re certainly a little more spread out and there’s a lot less people in general out here. Let me know when you head out west and then you’ll have one more fossil friend.
Uncle Siphuncle
Check the Florissant website. They may be closed for winter already due to elevation.
joshuajbelanger
Will definitely keep that in mind, I’ve been unsuccessfully trying to make fossil friends since I moved to Colorado! The website is terrible, but google reviews says they are open. So far no one has answered the phone, though.
Mark Kmiecik
That's a long drive from Tampa! You might as well fly to Seattle with the Mrs. and rent a car. Your avatar still says Tampa. Good luck. Post photos.
joshuajbelanger
Lol, I should probably change my location!
Bone Daddy
Be careful out there. It feels weird hunting the Peace without you here. LOL.

Bone Daddy
Josh, you have it backwards now. You are supposed to come down here during the freezing winter to hunt the Peace. Then, when the snows melt, we go back to Colorado and hunt during the Summer.

I know you’re in Ft. Collins but it’s only about a 45 minute drive from me. I’ve been dying to get out and go collecting since I moved here.
joshuajbelanger
Sounds great, I found a couple of killer white river sites in Colorado. I’m itching to get back out to them. Before ‘rona upended our lives, I had only hunted the spot for a collective of 5 or 6 hours. In those hours I found a tortoise, a turtle, an oreodont jaw, a large portion of bison(I need to return and get it), several areas with small rodent bones covering the matrix, and a bunch of random stuff. I wasn’t entirely prepared for this kind of rock, considering I’ve done the majority of my hunting with stable bones of the peace river, but, I’m prepared now. Just need to decide when I’m gonna head back out there. You should definitely keep an eye out for spots near you too.
