Dippy on Tour

Hi all

Dippy the diplodocus is now at Cardiff Museum.

I think 11 casts were made by Andrew Carnegie and one went to the NHM London in 1905. It’s now on a tour of the U.K.

Very nice and I meet her in Birmingham. I do wonder what is going to happen to her after the tour finished.

I think it would complement my collection nicely. But NHML might notice one of its dinosaur are missing.  :D

It has been part of GB National treasures for a long time . I do hope when it returns to London they find a home for it because it’s space has been allocated to a blue whale skeleton.

It was donated by the Scottish philanthropies Andrew Carnegie 1905, The massive plaster model of a Diplodocus — at the time the largest-known animal to have ever trod the planet . Here  is some old photos of London’s Natural History Museum.

yup.  The original is at the Carnegie Museum in Pittsburgh.

Have you seen it? I really don’t much about this museum at all. Cheers Bobby
