I wouldn't touch that thing with a ten-foot pole.

John Kowalski, a ten-foot Pole, said that he wouldn't touch it either. :D

Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!

I would have been fooled by this one a bit. When I enlarge it, the prep job looks terrible, which typically means just that, not totally fabricated. They usually use a better template specimen when mass producing trilobites. No one points out the fabrication they see. I might see a couple air bubbles but again, it could just be something in the matrix. If painted, wouldn't one make it darker?? The edges look too "chippy" for a stroke of a paintbrush. I still would not touch this trilobite even if it was possibly real.

Kane have you never heard of Identical twins

Trilobites laid a lot of eggs at once. More like identical thousandins.

It is both. It is real fake.

On a more serious not this type of thread I feel  does end up in our “is it real “ archive . I wonder how many members and visitors are helped to make better purchases.

I would say so.

Speaking from personal experience. When I started collecting fossils I posted asking about these exact items. And am pleased I did, as I was told the same info as above. Saved me from buying these copies
