Creek - Don
Went down to downtown Dallas Trinity River and walked down the river banks. Right above the Austin Chalk layer I saw couple of interesting rock formations. I'm thinking these are ancient coral or geologic rock formations? I found these two rocks next to each other. They must been formed around same time. That round stone picture has round growth ring pattern on it.
caldigger
They look to be Septerian nodules.
Creek - Don
Thank you. I see many big round shaped septarian nodules lying around. Should I collect them?
caldigger
Some do have very pretty crystal formations inside. As mama always said " Life is like a truckload of nodules, you never know what's inside". At least not till you crack it open! Here's a chunk of one that a former member sent me from the Dallas area. And of course, the camera can't really capture just how sparkly these actually are.
Creek - Don
Great. I grabbed some more tonight before river washes them away tomorrow. We are supposed to have T storms in Dallas tomorrow and the river rises pretty darn quick.
