Etiquette on returning to a guide location

What is the etiquette on returning to spot shown to me by a fossil hunting guide? Last year a guide took me and some others to a nice creek in South Carolina. It's really the only spot I know of. Is it okay to return to it on my own, or is that frowned upon?

I think it is best if you contact the guide, and ask permission to go back to the site on your own.

They may not want you going to their grounds if they have a trip planned within a few days of your being there.

Follow any rules and/or guidelines established by them, and do not divulge the location to others.

I'm pretty sure it was public- but not 100% sure. I saw other people walking through the woods with sifting equipment as we were walking in, so it's a known spot.

Is the creek only 200 feet long ? .. sounds like you need to strap on your hiking boots for some walk-about no ?  :zzzzscratchchin:

When in doubt, take what you've learned and scout for new spots.
