First Bissekty Tooth

Masp

Recommended Posts

I recently purchased my first tooth from the Bissekty Formation, Dzarakuduk, Kyzylkum desert, Uzbekistan.

Tooth size - 1.57” (4 cm)

Cretaceous, Upper Turonian Stage, (94 - 89 Ma)

Would like to know if this tooth is best labeled as Tyrannosaurid indet, or Timurlengia euotica. Thoughts?

Timurlengia euotica is what it should be called.  By the way this is not a Tyrannosaurid but currently thought to be in a sister group called Pantyrannosauria.  Its a clade of long snouted Tyrannosauroidea.  Nice pickup

Thats really cool, thanks Frank. Would love to acquire additional material from the fauna for my collection someday.

Wow, the serrations of your tooth are great! Mine can hardly be seen.

Thanks that was honestly the main reason why I chose this tooth in particular. Your tooth is awesome nonetheless and from a rare dinosaur. Very cool.
