Megalodoodle
I recently found a small box of shark teeth that I obtained when I was a kid. It turns out that the labels, when translated from Spanish described the features of the fossils and not the actual species. Quite a number were not even true fossils they were mislabeled recently extinct species. Moral of this story: kids are dumb, and don’t buy fossils unless their labeled with the Latin name. Tidgy's Dad
Yup, real fossils. The top one is a part of a ray tooth, the others are shark's teeth. Somebody will be along to tell you the species soon, I hope. Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.

And those plates are composed of these individual teeth that form the pavement of those crushing plates. The smooth surface is the occlusal (crushing) side and the ribbed side with the comb-like projections is the root.
