This might be completely off the wall but, could it be horse? In picture five it kinda looks like a weathered chewing surface of a horse molar with all the twists and lines on it.

Lovely! I'm now landlocked in the middle of the peninsula--even when we lived closer to the beach we only took advantage of shore-diving the first year or so after we moved down from Chicago. We spent the most time at the beaches in the Broward County region when we were volunteers helping redirect errant sea turtle hatchlings to make it to the surf. Even then, we were "beach vampires" arriving at dusk and staying till the wee hours. Cheers. -Ken

Thanks, Harry! The elongated layering is the only thing that hinted at mammoth but it is small and highly worn/polished so I'd not bet my bottom dollar on it. Cheers. -Ken

I’m pulling everything from sand and gravel that I’ve been sifting from local sites on the water. The original matrix it would’ve been in before I recovered it would’ve been clay. I’ll try it out with your recommended method with some of the less that stellar broken fossils. Air abrasion won’t be an option for me right now, I currently reside in an apartment and have limited room for equipment. Thank you for the advice, I’m hoping to make these little guys more exciting than they already are.

Fossilized Oyster with baby on board, I found in my pile. Awesome fossil, rock, calcite shell I found near my house yesterday !! Lastly my beauty's had an acid bath and look at the colors.

It's not any sort of tooth I recognize. The occlusal surface - even unworn - does not appear to be right for elephantoid. Furthermore, I cannot identify roots or pulp cavity on the find. Interesting find, but I reluctantly guess it's mineralogical.

Was instructed by local "experts" that it was a dire wolf pre molar, i don't trust the validity of that statement. So i need expert validation.

Looks like a grass grazer tooth to me..the teeth i usually find have distinctive color variations on the chewing surface..Ill let the experts confirm this.

Sadly I watched them dump a ton of it in Palmetto to rebuild the road. No way to even get near it . The ones i see now are dropped and spread out same day so can only look afterward. My hidden pile still has have left tho!!

Im not pulling anybodies leg either. You could be daring and wash your clothes with permitherin..just make sure your clothes are completely dry..kills ticks dead.
