Navychief
Found these today. At first I thought it was a cone shell because of the overall shape. But when I cleaned it off I thought it was Strombus floridanis but the the heavy lines on the body and fine lines on the top threw me. The coral is interesting but unknown to me. Any feed back is appreciated.
Plantguy
@Navychief Cool finds! These really require Mike's expertise but my 2 cents. @MikeR I think the gastropod is indeed one of the cone shells. May not be the genus Conus. As for the coral I'm going way out of league with even proposing a possibility.....maybe a rose coral, possibly a Manicina maybe M.areolata which I've seen in the species list for the Tamiami fm but there are a number of other forms! A number of them are listed in this reference..might help for your future finds! MikeR
Subadult Lobatus (Family Strombidae). Difficult to assign to a species without seeing more of the related fauna. The coral is too fragmented to give an accurate id. Manicina or possibly Pseudodiploria.
