This is my first post here, so please bear with me while I figure out proper forum etiquette. Any comments, suggestions, or species identifications are very much welcome!

These are my finds from the past 2 trips to Big Brook in July 2023. Check my other post for finds at Ramanessin Brook.

I usually come armed with a small children's fishing net and a mini garden trowel. I'm currently looking into getting a real sifter and shovel, but it's tough to do on a PhD student budget.

**** I apologize for the poor photo quality. I'll try to find my light box next time for some better macro shots.

Without further ado, Big Brook

Belemnites of various sizes

Shells, coral, other small items I cannot identify

Something that vaguely resembles a tooth?

I can't help with ID, but I can put you at ease that you provided us with good photos including some with measurement. :) I empathize with you as I remember the PhD student days with slim budgets and a lot of discount ramen (and yet I always miraculously found enough money for beer, the essential dietary lubricant of the grad student!). :D

We have quite a few members who hunt Big Brook here who should be along shortly to provide assistance.

Beer? Previous grad student confirmed! Who needs food when you have carbohydrates in a readily available, drinkable form?

Part of me misses those days, lol. Now that I can actually afford the beer, it just isn't the same. :D
