JimFit6979
Hello everybody,i'm James, I live in Portsmouth ohio and found a large trace fossil a year ago and it is so interesting to find fossils. I have no professional stance on the Paleo field, it's just a hobby that holds my interest. I found a big bone in my backyard digging, it was very large and for some sick reason I hoped it was a human bones...ikr! Turns out I guess it's a bison ankle LMBO. I want to see if you guys can tell whether or not this is an actual fossil or a new ...cow ankle..its not dark but pretty white...but it looks fossilized to my u familier eyeballs. . Thanks guys. Coco
Hi, Astragalus, but I cannot say more. However, you are on an international forum with a lot of non-English speakers. So acronyms are not welcome. What does "ikr" and "LMBO" mean ? Coco
Fossildude19
Try holding a flame to it. If it burns or gives off a smell of burning hair, it's modern. If it does not burn, it's a fossil.
Rockwood
Modern cow astragalus seems most likely to me.

johnnyvaldez7.jv
@Coco as someone who has 5 daughters... "ikr" means "I know, right?" and "LMBO" means "laughing my butt off." Lots of people use these when texting to say what they want to without typing the entire word. You'd be surprised to know entire conversations can be done this way. Crazy.
Coco
Thanks @johnnyvaldez7.jv It’s funny when you understand what it means ! For foreigners it’s less so Not sure I remember... Coco
