Hi all,

I could not resist to get these 3 beautiful hadrosaur eggs. Those have been the last ones in my price range, and from a renowned local seller.

Was wondering if anyone could give more insights.

Here is what I have

  • Possibly saurolophus
  • 80 mio. year old, Cenomanian, Late Cretaceous
  • Egg size 10.5 to 12cm (4 to 4.5"), about 8-9kg (18lbs)
  • Xixia Basin, Henan province, China
  • From an old collection

Hoping no one tells me I bought some fakes .... (well, then I will return them ...).

I am so curious. Getting them by tomorrow.

Any comments from the experts here?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Hm, I am a bit unsure, looks like a mixture...

There are many faked eggs on the market. Could you post some detail pics of the surface-structure of the egg-shale?

Old collection..., the oldest ones came in the 80th, but most in the last 20 years. It is often marked as "old collection" because of restrictions, it is not allowed to export eggs from china. But, as we all know, they come

Can post more pictures once I have it in my hands.

In Europe a lot of people are selling their grand parents' stuff because they need money, so dealers get hands on many rare old items.

What details are important to tell about authenticity? What looks questionable?

Also have a 100-250x microscope if such photos help.

So I can take the right photos :fingerscrossed:
