i.amsherlocked
Had it suggested to me on Treasure Net that this could be a cranium of some sort, what are your thoughts? - Roughly 2.5"x2.5" and spherical in shape - appears to have some sort of seam that's visible from the outside but not the inside - Hard and inflexible (overall strength and hardness I'd compare to a thick popsicle stick) - Found on a newly exposed sand bank along the North Saskatchewan River
Fossildude19
This actually looks like a walnut shell, to me. 1
daves64
Or a piece of coconut shell maybe? 2
jhw
I was gonna say coconut too.
Cris
Definitely looks like the shell of something. Coconut popped into my head initially too and the comment about the hardness being comparable to a popsicle stick seems about right if that is the case.
Ludwigia
Since the North Saskatchewan River is almost 1300km. long, it would help to know exactly where along the river this was found. For instance close to "civilization" which would account for disposed coconut shells.
Coco
Hi, I agree with the coconut shell. In addition, the sutures of a skull are visible outside AND inside. Coco 1
digit
Yup. I've seen lots of coconut shells in my life and this one was instantly recognizable. Quite an out of place find but human "artifacts" do have a way of getting around. Cheers. -Ken 1
