Burlington Keokuk Fish Layer

Recommended Posts

minnbuckeye

I had a left over 5 pound piece of matrix sitting outside from last summer's trip to the Burlington, Iowa area. Finally this summer, I broke up the Mississippian age rock a bit, soaked it in acid for a few weeks, and then extracted these teeth from the softened matrix.

@minnbuckeye These fossil shark teeth are truly awesome! Nice Job!!B)

I've heard there are still some exposed Burlington Keokuk fish layer road cuts still exposed in parts of Western Illinois!!! I think close to the Mississippi River but not 100% sure!!! Any suggestions (without giving too much information away publicly) on where I could find them?:zzzzscratchchin:
