Bone found at Holden beach nc

Recommended Posts

I have many things I've picked up along the way. I'm not expert by any stretch. I'd love some help though. I'm thinking this is a fossilized bone. If not I apologize in advance. Thanks so much.

It does look like bone, but I don't know if it's identifiable beyond that. Maybe someone else will recognize the shape.

The texture of the bone screams "Marine Mammal" .  You have a chance ,  You have a chance because  There is a Forum Member who is a magician in identification of Marine mammal fossils (Whale, dolphin, pinnipeds, sea turtle, etc etc..) He is really busy and stops by occassionally. @Boesse  You should read some of his posts to understand what I mean...  This seems like a small complete bone... I would start by taking a look at the bones in a whale/dolphin flipper... how about that ulna or maybe the humerus

I really appreciate your help. I'm especially looking at the humerus. I'm going to take a look at some of his stuff now. Thank you!

This is too incomplete to identify, unfortunately.
